This storm warning message was distributed from Washington, D.C. at 3:00 P.M. on October 10, 1896 by Willis L. Moore, Chief of Bureau. It gives instructions for raising a hurricane and high wind warnings for the south Atlantic coast from central Florida to Wilmington, North Carolina.

From 1947 until 1970, the official observations of weather in Boulder were made under the direction of the Boulder fire chief, at the central fire station. The Boulder Fire Department also maintained a weather station at the South Side Fire Station starting in July 1958.
